Ian's achievements include:
| 2011 | Designed and built a bespoke manufacturing order and materials planning / purchasing solution for Conservatory Outlet, integrated into First Degree Window Designer. Development of this system is continuing. |
| 2009-2011 | Developed and launched the web based Lynx software package for Window and Door Retailers and Trade Counters. |
| 2009-2010 | Managed two very different retail installation companies in the M25 area as an interim MD, one a conservatory specialist the other a general window and door business, both of which are now profitable and performing well. |
| 2006-2009 | Developed the Whiteline Group's internal process management software, which links First Degree Window Designer data into an all-encompassing solution for order and quote management, production control, purchase ordering/EDI, bar-coded storage and delivery management and finance. This solution resulted in a drop of around 70% in administrative overhead, and drastically reduced errors. The internal system has also been opened up to Whiteline's customers, who are able among other things to view order details, download acknowledgments, invoices and statements on-line. |
| 2007-8 | Developed commercial quotation, contract management and materials purchasing system for Marsland and Company (now ceased trading). |
| 2005-7 | Part of the turnaround team that restructured the Whiteline Group business. I was extensively involved in factory relocation, cessation of glass production, office relocation, credit policy implementation, finance management, new product introduction, marketing and a host of smaller projects. |
| 2004-5 | Set up an on-line solution for commercial credit management, used by companies handling thousands of credit applications annually |
| 1994-2004 | IT and project director at the Infocheck Group, which was acquired by Equifax Inc. During this period I conceived and developed the first Internet-based credit reporting system in the UK (turning over £1m+ by 1997, with 5,000+ on-line users) and was involved in subsidiary businesses that operated in cheque guarantee, consumer and commercial debt collection and automotive information (HPI). |
| 1983-1994 | Founding owner/director of software company specializing in distribution management and accounting. Our largest customer had a turnover of £80m+ and produced around 4,000 invoices daily from over 20 warehouse/distribution locations, using bespoke software we developed. We also implemented the UK's first on-line credit reporting system, using public X.25 networks (no Internet in those days!) |
| 1978-1983 | Software developer, working in many different industries (from fruit and veg distribution to sewage management to pathology), principally producing order processing, stock control and accounting systems. |
